Getting out of your own way is one of the hardest things to do! I find myself getting in my own way unless I am intentional about my decisions. We make over 60,000 decisions per day. No wonder it's hard to make a perfect decision every time. Frankly, it's not possible. Framing the kind of day or interaction you desire is one way to prepare for intentional outcomes. Here are a few tips.

  1. Be intentional with not becoming the subject of other people's intentions.Be open to ideas and a better way of execution. Even though the day may be filled with things you don't have control over, many of them you do. You can decide what pieces you can change, and being more mindful and with positive intent, before you enter the room, a conversation, and even better, before your feet hit the floor in the morning.

  1. Let go of self-deprecating fears. Many of them are self-made. Check your worries at the door, and reframe your mind.

  1. Breathe! Don’t rush too fast to a solution! Ask yourself, is there a better solution, and seek others for advice, even the ones that we want to run from. They may have some insights that are game changers.

  1. Keep your inner voice honest! Strive for excellence, and let go of times when you miss the mark. You’ll do it better the next time around, embrace the sting, and let go!
